The Capital Hotels, Apartments and Resorts is continuing to reshape Umhlanga’s shoreline with the launch of Pearls Shore, the seventh phase of the acclaimed Pearls development. Spread beautifully along KwaZulu-Natal’s most prestigious piece of coastline, The Pearls has long offered unparalleled beachfront living. The Capital is now extending that offering with the Pearls Shore, due to be completed between March and May of 2025. This latest development will further cement the estate’s status as Durban’s premier piece of real estate.
The Capital Hotels, Apartments and Resorts CEO, Marc Wachsberger, says, “For 12 years, The Pearls has consistently been the most successful development in our 12-hotel portfolio. We’ve almost always run at 90% occupancy, and the demand for this property prompted us to create Pearls Shore in partnership with the original Pearls developer, Pearls of Umhlanga Development (Pty) Limited.”
He added, “Over the previous phases of development, we have seen significant capital appreciation, and we expect to see more of the same from next year.”
Introducing Pearls Shore
With only 44 limited apartments, Pearls Shore is an opportunity to own a piece of Umhlanga’s most sought-after beachfront property—either through a flexible variable lease or a fixed lease agreement. All units come with 3-year leases that are extendable up to 9 years. They also have access to all Pearl’s facilities including multiple swimming pools, restaurants, bars, playgrounds and the mall. The Pearls Shore will feature two types of bespoke units: studios and two-bedroom units, which are forecast to generate anything from R159 000 to R300 000 in rental income per annum against an acquisition cost starting at R2 187 000.
A legacy of excellence
Since its inception in 2004, The Pearls has reimagined Umhlanga’s skyline with its striking towers, blending luxury apartments with a vibrant mix of retail, fine dining, and leisure, all within steps of the Indian Ocean.
Wachsberger says, “Even during Covid, we were surprised by just how sought-after this space was. So, we’ve tried to continue to improve upon it and bring The Capital’s flair to Durban’s best beachfront.”
Pearls Shore promises to build on the legacy of its predecessors, offering a blend of design, comfort, and coastal charm that has become synonymous with The Pearls of Umhlanga.
A bright future
The launch of Pearls Shore promises to be more than just an expansion; it reinforces The Capital’s commitment to driving innovation in South Africa’s hospitality sector. Positioned to cater to both business and leisure travellers, this latest development is set to elevate Umhlanga’s status as a premier destination.
