Legal Chambers: Tailored office space in Cape Town

Tailored for Legal Professionals: New Cape Town Collective serviced offices offer ideal workspace in the CBD

Cape Town, 2 July 2024 – Though legal professionals still require physical office space for work, meetings and client hosting purposes, much has changed in terms of how and when these offices are utilised.

With the pandemic accelerating remote and hybrid work, attorneys, advocates and other legal personnel are looking at new ways to create more efficient and user-friendly office spaces.

Serviced office space specialist Cape Town Collective (CTC) understands this shifting dynamic and has responded by launching fully serviced private offices for legal professionals only steps away from Western Cape High Court.

From July 1, Cape Town’s legal industry will be brought into the exciting age of the shared workspace at Legal Chambers of Cape Town Collective on the seventh floor of the prestigious Wale Street Chambers building in the heart of the CBD.

The workspace includes a receptionist, a full suite of tech services, including a 1 000mbps dedicated fibre line, high-tech security with facial recognition access control, high-volume printing, VOIP and calls answering services and a coffee café complete with professional barista and an external courtyard where one can socialise with clients and colleagues.

In addition, an electricity charge is included, with backup power for all offices and services.

Our legal tenants will have access to all the facilities, amenities, services and networking opportunities offered in the Cape Town Collective professional co-working space,” says Jeffrey John Kleu, investor and developer for the Klarey Property Group.

“Legal Chambers at Cape Town Collective adds a layer of tech, convenience and tailor-made services to bring a truly unique and cutting edge offering to lawyers, attorneys and other legal professionals.”

The location is perfect for independent legal professionals and small- to medium-sized law firms requiring proximity to the High Court.

The offering includes the privacy and security of a dedicated ‘legal-only’ area, bespoke furnishings, finishes and artwork in all offices and common areas, as well as a fully integrated client portal housed on an app on one’s cell phone for seamless access to all services and amenities.

The offices even provide unique onsite features such as a pay-as-you-use court messenger service and a document and parcel reception benefit.

To add to the building’s overall outside look, a multi-floor-sized version of the South African flag has been painted onto the Long Street facing side of the building to celebrate and honour the country’s winning of the Rugby World Cup 2023 championship under the captaincy of Siya Kolisi

By now it is no secret that despite years of load-shedding and the impact of the pandemic, the demand for office rentals in Cape Town has soared.

The boom is driven in the main by Cape Town’s success in service delivery and electricity supply as well as the resurgence of tourism. These factors have caused investors from other provinces to relocate their businesses to the city, while overseas companies have also seen the value of Cape Town as a lucrative destination.

At the same time, it is a given that legal professionals need physical office spaces to conduct their work.

Legal Chambers meets this need both in terms of workspace and affordability.

Thirteen legal-only offices are available, ranging in price from R11 500 to R14 000 a month.

Because Cape Town Collective recognises that remote work has become part and parcel of everyday legal operations, it has also offered a “virtual office/service address” offering that allows the space’s physical infrastructure to be used as and when needed.

The bronze package, at R995 a month, gives legal professionals a prestigious business address, a dedicated phone line with call/message handling services, and a document and package receiving offering. The silver package (R1 495 p/m), meanwhile, includes all these services plus access to the on-site business lounge, discounted rates for boardrooms and meeting rooms as well as four free boardroom/meeting room hours.

The top-end gold package offers all the above but with the added advantage of eight free meeting room hours per month.

Lawyers can even rent boardrooms from R450 an hour to R3 200 for a full day.

“With the High Court literally down the road, we believe that Legal Chambers at Cape Town Collective is the answer everyone in the local legal community has been looking for,” Kleu says.

“We understand and appreciate that their caseloads can be extremely heavy and taxing, so by offering a solution that is not only close to court but also meets their every office need, they can rest assured that they are in the ideal location. In addition, this takes the hassle out of sourcing, furnishing, employing, and installing infrastructure in traditional legal offices.”
